The New York Giants have pulled off the perfect upset; they knocked off the then undefeated Patriots 17-14 in Super Bowl XLII.
“It was a great game,” said junior Trygve Hummelbaugh. “I really liked the commercials the best; my favorite was the Doritos commercial.” Everybody had the Patriots winning the Super Bowl, but the Giants thought otherwise. “I was very surprised when the giants scored the game winning touchdown; I still thought the Patriots would come back,” said Hummelbaugh, who believes that the Patriots’ season was not a complete loss. “They still went 18-0, but lost the big one.” Sophomore Tim Bolton said that the best thing about the Super Bowl was the fourth quarter. “I hate the Patriots; it was awesome that the Giants won,” said Bolton. Bolton does not believe that the Patriots are the best team ever. “You have teams like the Steelers, 49ERs, Dolphins, and the Cowboys just because they [the Patriots] went 18-1 does not mean they're the best team ever.” With their win, the Giants pulled off the greatest Super Bowl upset in recent memory. This Super Bowl was the most watched broadcast since Super Bowl XXX, (Cowboys vs. the Steelers) and it was the second most watched broadcast since the finale of the hit show M*A*S*H*. |
