The new 2007-2008 East Pennsboro Panthers Baseball Team has high hopes for the season.
Last year was a terrible year for coach Mike Lebo, Sr. and his East Pennsboro Area High School Panthers varsity baseball team who finished with a record of 1-17. That was a huge difference from the year before when the panther team went 9-11. “This year’s team is determined to overcome the doubters and win a conference title and make the playoffs,” says sophomore second baseman Ian Robison. The team has had some key players leave including Nick Pisani the star pitcher who graduated, sophomore third basemen Mike Lebo, Jr. who transferred to Cedar Cliff High School, junior pitcher Nick Hughes who has other responsibilities, and sophomore second basemen Steve Donmoyer who didnt make the team. Along with the ones who left, the team also has some outstanding returnees including senior third basemen and pitcher Josh Dinterman, sophomore second basemen and pitcher Max Miller, sophomore shortstop Matt Porter, senior first basemen and designated hitter Brandon Nye, and junior pitcher Augie Fowler. The team also received help in the youth department by picking up young slugger freshmen catcher Zach Nye. The team’s first game is at home on March 28th at 4:15pm versus the Lions of Camp Hill High School who had a record of 16-5 last year. The Panthers won both of their scrimmages this year with a score of 15-5 versus Trinity High School and 23-3 versus Steelton-Highspire High School. In the team's first scrimmage against Trinity, senior Josh Dinterman belted a grand slam and a two-run homer to aid in his team’s victory. The cleats are laced, uniforms are pressed, the grass is cut, and the 2007-2008 baseball season is here and ready to begin. |
