In boys' basketball, the Panthers were looking to advance to playoffs after what they thought would be a promising season, but got eliminated on Friday, January 11, when they played against Camp Hill.
The game was tied with about twenty seconds left, with the Panthers controlling the ball. “Coach wanted us to hold it for the last shot,” said Charlie Heisley, a junior at East Pennsboro Area High School. With around seven seconds left in the game, Senior Cody Avery took advantage of a wide-open shot, but it just didn’t fall. That left just enough time for Camp Hill to run down the court and sce at the buzzer, which ended with a 44-42 heartbreaker for the Panthers. With six games left in the season, East Penn wants to finish up strong. “We should be able to end this season with an 8-15 record,” said Junior TJ Ondesko. The team had plenty of talent this year, but they just couldn’t put it together. “Next year we should be better because we have eight returning players,” said Heisley. They were a young team this year without a lot of experience, hopefully by next year the team will grow together and maybe make a run at the playoffs. |
