Jesse "Jakey" Sopp was named the Pennsylvania honorary captain for the 2008 Big 33 Football Classic.
Pennsylvania Big 33 Executive Director, John Greene, announced that East Pennsboro Area High School student Jesse Sopp is the Honorary Captain for the this year's Pennsylvania Big 33 Classic. Sopp is the manager of East Penn's football, boys’ basketball and track teams. The Big 33 Classic is held every year at the historic Hershey Park Arena in the summer months, usually towards the end of June. The best 33 football players from Pennsylvania take on the best 33 from Ohio. Each player has a designated buddy, which Jesse has been for a few years now. In an interview with CBS TV Channel 21 reporter, Jamie Fettrow, East Pennsboro senior John Hostettler said, “If we ask Jesse to do something, no matter what it is, he’ll do it.” When asked what he had to say about Jesse, Coach Todd Stuter, Jesse's mentor said, “He’s our emotional leader, the spirit of our team. He’s the spirit of our school, actually.” John Greene, the executive director of the Big 33, said, “Everyone loves Jesse; I have no doubt in my mind that he will do an exceptional job.” To anyone who wants to support Jesse at the game, it is on June 14th at 7 PM in the Hershey Park Stadium.
