On January 1, 2008, a group of people took a leap into the frigid waters of the Susquehanna river to start off the new year.
This jump was part of an event called the "Penguin Plunge." One person taking the jump was Brittney Chaplin, a student at East Pennsboro Area High School. "It seemed like it would be fun; I like animals, and since it benefitted the Humane Society I decided to do it," said Brittney on taking the icy plunge. Jumping into the water didn't come without physical pain though: "It was so cold it burned my legs," said Brittney. To most people jumping into icy cold waters would seem crazy, but to Brittney it was a "new experience for a new year, and I'll do it again next year." No one has commented on this article. |
