Senior Katelyn Nale has been chosen as this week's “Student of the Week” by teacher Lee Seibert.
Although Seibert has never taught Nale in class, he has had much interaction with her through community service. “[Katelyn] is a leader of one of the service programs,” Seibert explained, referring to her position as student coordinator of Panther Academy. Panther Academy is a program that offers educational babysitting to parents with special needs children. This babysitting program is provided while parents take classes to learn how to better work with their children. Seibert described Nale as “dependable” and expressed that she “gets along well with children,” both of which are important qualities in her program. Nale also volunteers for Hospice and the Humane Society. She participates in track and field, cheerleading, and spends a lot of her time at the gym. She is currently employed at Hershey Park. “I have to keep a time schedule,” Nale stated, explaining how she balances her extracurricular activities and her schoolwork. |
