Platts represents the people of the 19th congressional district of Pennsylvania.

Because he is a representative, he felt that he needed to hear the opinions of teenagers growing up in the community. Senior Allison Owen said, “It was a great experience to see Todd Platts and feel like my opinion on local matters is really being heard."

Although Platts was not available for an interview, students described his responsibilities as “representing opinions put forth by our community.”

Senior Eric Decker attended this meeting. “He actually had a lot to say and he didn’t seem to be talking down to us, like many students expected him to,” said Decker.

Both students said that it was a good experience and would encourage students to take part in any events such as this in the future.
