On Wednesday, March 19, 2008, East Pennsboro Area High School will be holding their annual local Special Olympics.
They will start out at eight in the morning and go until two in the afternoon. “I’m so excited for this year. It’s going to be a ton of fun.” junior Nichele Clouser said. Clouser has been helping out with the Special Olympics since sixth grade. She and her friends are usually buddies to the athletes, which means that she takes them to their events and helps them in all of their activities. In total there are 46 high school students who will be buddies for this year’s Special Olympics. East Pennsboro will also have a few athletes who will be lighting the torch to start the ceremony. “It’s a great cause, everyone that attends enjoys seeing the smile that they put on the athletes’ faces,” senior Megan Albright said. Albright was in charge of gathering students to help out at the event. Anyone is allowed to help out, some can even earn community service hours for National Honor Society. Clouser, along with Albright, believe that there will be a great turn out for this year’s Special Olympics. “It’s really nice to take time out of your day and help those less fortunate than you,” Clouser said. |
