Who would have ever thought Jeff Nornhold was the best driver from East Pennsboro Area High School? On Thursday, April 24, Jeff Nornhold and Keith Wheeler represented East Pennsboro at the Cumberland and Franklin Counties Driving Competition at the CAIU in Summerdale. Driver's Education teacher, Jennifer LaBella, was in charge of encouraging students to participate in the event. Nornhold was the best in-car driver on the course out of the 35 students that participated. He earned a 67 out of a possible 75 points. The only driver of the day to beat him was a Pennsylvania State Trooper who received 70 points. Nornhold won a plaque and a $100 savings bond sponsored by local businesses. Nornhold said, “It was a good learning experience and I got to meet people at the same time.” The expected age to participate is at least 16 years and a permit or license is required. LaBella encourages students to look into it for next year so more people can be involved. The driving competition is an excellent way to show driving skills on and off the road. |
