The Other Boleyn Girl hit theaters February 29, 2008 with a bang. It tells the story of King Henry VIII’s affairs with Ann and Mary Boleyn.
Based on historical events, the story is given a twist when it is put in the perspective of the Boleyn sisters’ love triangle. Ann, played by Natalie Portman, is the independent and manipulative older sister, while younger sister Mary, played by Scarlett Johansson, may be described as innocent and naive. “I thought that the actresses who played the Boleyn sisters were fantastic!” exclaimed movie-goer Jennifer Geiger. Overall, the The Other Boleyn Girl received good reviews. “I loved the Renaissance setting, and the drama made it very interesting,” explained Geiger. Abigail Dyson admitted “I bawled at the end. It really evoked a lot of emotion.” However, some improvements could have been made. “The costumes could have been better,” suggested Dyson. Geiger also had some ideas. “I would have changed the ending,” she explained, “but I understand that [the producers] wanted it to be historically accurate. |
