The East Pennsboro Area High School talent show was held on May 23, 2008. There were seven talent acts that consisted of seniors, juniors, and sophomores. Everyone thought a senior act would win. Who would have thought a junior would take home the first place prize?

The show started off with two senior announcers, Stephanie Lewis and Eric Decker, who did a “fabulous job,” said junior Melanie Greene.

Seniors Tanin Nahar and Priti Patel did their sequel from last year's performance, “The Continuation of Dhamaka.” History teacher Erick Hanson was a surprise guest who joined them in their act. Junior Amber Block stated, “It was hilarious because nobody even knew about it.”

Junior Brandon Isham showed everyone that his drumming skills were even better than last year. “With all of Brandon's tricks and humor on stage, there is no reason why he shouldn't have won,” said junior Nichele Clouser.

Seniors Katie Adams, Katie Fake, Tiphani Guldner, and Jessica Obrock performed a wacky dance that showed how “girls just want to have fun.”

Senior Jeremy Franczak played guitar and sang to the all time favorite hit, “Oops, I Did It Again.” Franczak was not the only participant playing guitar and singing that day; senior Nathan Hartwig performed an original song that he had written prior to the talent show tryouts.

Seniors Dante Ngo (scary spice), Maura Campomizzi (sporty spice), Abby Dyson (baby spice), Alicia Dinkle (ginger spice), and Megan Albright (posh spice) dressed up and performed a favorite Spice Girls hit, “Wanna Be.”

Sophomores Elizabeth Bond and Nicole Ioos performed an original song. Ioos played guitar and Bond played the keyboard. They complemented each other by both singing to their untitled song.

Checks were presented to the Four Diamonds Fund, YWCA, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Isham took home the winning prize of $75; Nahar and Patel earned the second place prize of $50; and the Spice Girls (and boy) took home a $25 prize. Block mentioned, “Everyone involved in the talent show this year did a great job.”

The 2008 talent show was very entertaining. Can next year's variety show top it?
