The East Pennsboro Area High School Quiz Bowl Team faced the knowledge monster that is Cumberland Valley High School in a demoralizing loss, December 4.

Junior Dana Belles said, “The questions were difficult, but that’s what I expected.”

The questions hit on such topics as science, math, history, art, grammar, and spelling. Belles said, “the chemistry and history questions really threw me off.”

To prepare for the matches, the team has practices on Mondays and Wednesdays. Junior Matt Zart said, “We are like a family with inside jokes.” Quiz Bowl competitions are exciting for the competitors. Zart said, “Being in Quiz Bowl is like owning someone in the face.”

When in a competition Zart said, “If you’re not in the zone, you have to make your own zone.” Zart Often second-guesses himself which loses valuable time. Zart also said, “The recent loss to CV was because of stupid mistakes.”

The Quiz Bowl team hopes to get a win next time.
