“It’s a privilege reserved strictly for seniors as a reward,” guidance counselor Gloria Brzezinski stated. Seniors may choose whether they wish to arrive a period late or leave a period early. In order to receive this special benefit, students must be on the honor roll during previous trimesters as well as score a “proficient” or better on the PSSAs. Any students who had previously received disciplinary action may not participate. “The purpose is to motivate students to work harder,” explained Brzezinski.

According to students, it’s working. “I really wanted late arrival, so I knew I had to study extra hard for it,” reported senior Jen Geiger. Both Brzezinski and Geiger agreed that this program successfully rewards seniors. “We’re deserving of it,” explained Geiger, “Good grades should pay off some way.”
