East Pennsboro Area High School hosted an orientation for the upcoming freshmen on Monday, May 19 and Wednesday, May 21, 2008.
Many of the East Pennsboro Area High School students signed up to chaperone this event. This orientation is done every year to show the upcoming freshman class around our school. This ensures students know locations of classes, so they are not frightened by the thought of getting lost and being late for a class. “I wanted to help because I knew how scared I was coming into the high school because it seemed so big,” sophomore Taylor Byrnes said. Students could sign up with Mrs. Jana Murray for either day to show the middle school students around the school. The orientation was about an hour long, 9:00- 10:00 am, during second period. Each high school student was given a map of destinations they must cover for the younger students. “I showed them all around this fine establishment used to teach children,” sophomore Andrew Chan said. Also, each high school student was given a group of about ten middle school students. Students were told they could combine their groups, which some, in fact, did. When asked, many students said they had fun during the orientation and believed it helped a lot. |
