For over ten years, East Pennsboro Area School District has been given many grants to improve teaching throughout the district.

“The Education Foundation was established to help the school with purchasing new things for the classrooms, expanding the rooms and to make East Pennsboro a better learning place,” said teacher and Vice President, Mr. Lee Seibert.

The Foundation is an organization that is growing each and every year. Two students from East Pennsboro are represented on the board: Shannon Kelly and Jonas Schnur.

“Since 1998 over $100,000 has been raised in charity; $48,000 for the theater, and $50,000 in grants for the teachers,” said Seibert. A major event that takes place each year is the Spring Gala, which is held at the Harrisburg Hilton. “At the Gala there are silent and live auctions,” said Seibert, who is on board along with three other members. Pat Saxton serves as President, Lee Siebert as Vice President, Bruce Deveney as Secretary, and Josie Saussaman as Treasurer.

The next time you are asked to donate a couple pennies, think about all the cool technology that you can eventually have in your classroom!
